Hatfield at a glance

Hatfield is a safe and leafy suburb, framed by the area's iconic Jacaranda trees and nestled in the heart of Pretoria. Hatfield borders the equally upmarket areas of Lynnwood and Brooklyn. It is a mere 5 kilometres away from Pretoria's city centre- close enough for commercial convenience but still neatly out of the way of the major hustle and bustle. The suburb is home to many tertiary level students, due to its inclusion of one of the University of Pretoria's campuses.

Commercial Hotspots

Hatfield's commercial node has become highly popular amongst a variety of big name businesses.  The vicinity plays host to the workplaces of over 30 foreign embassies, including the Swedish, Turkish and Canadian embassies. A trend emerged some years back where foreign consulates started moving their offices into the lovely, large houses of Hatfield. The area surrounding the Hatfield Plaza shopping centre is a particularly affluent space for commercial property. As is the North East area of Hatfield which pinnacles around Loftus Park.
Commercial Development and Office Parks

Hatfield offers a variety of impressive office spaces. Hatfield Bridge Office Park is one of Hatfield's premier office parks, which is located on Stanza Bopape Street. Some of the other key office parks in Hatfield include Parkfield Court, iParioli Office Park, Hadefields and Ditsela Place.
Many commercial developments took place in Hatfield throughout the 2000s and have given rise to many prime office spaces. Loftus Park is one of the most exciting new developments that recently took place in Hatfield. It is adjacent to the famous Loftus Versfeld Stadium, home to rugby and soccer games. Loftus Park is set to include Green Star offices, retail spaces as well as a Protea Hotel by Marriott. The new development has a conference centre, service stores and provides many opportunities in Hatfield's thriving commercial node.

Infrastructure

There is convenient access to the N1 and N4, two major motorways that intersect Pretoria, from the Hatfield area.  Hatfield remains a centrally located suburb in Pretoria and offers a variety of established infrastructures. Schools in the suburb include Hatfield Christian School and St Mary's DSG. While Hatfield may not have a major hospital in place, there is the Pretoria Urology Hospital and the Hatmed Medical Centre within its borders. Other amenities include two parks, a Virgin Active gym and numerous sports' clubs.

Distance from Key Points (Airport/ CBD)

The area of Hatfield is situated approximately 51.5 kilometers from OR Tambo International Airport. Depending on traffic and the chosen route, it should take around 40 minutes to reach Hatfield from the airport by car. The bustling CBD area of Johannesburg is roughly 71.5 kilometres from Hatfield, and should take just under an hour to reach.

Transport

The Hatfield area hosts a total of three Gautrain stations (Rissik, Hatfield, and Hartbeesspruit). This makes commutes to the area efficient and easy. Minibus taxis remain the ever-present option for getting from Gautrain stations to specific destinations within Hatfield.

Malls/ Shopping

Hatfield Plaza can be found on Hilda Street. It is a medium-sized mall with over 60 retailers, which include ABSA Bank, Standard Bank, Matrix Warehouse, Legit, Markham, and Sportscene. Duncan Yard provides a more rustic shopping experience, with cobbled streets and bricked turrets creating a unique atmosphere for quaint stores and coffee shops. Additionally, there are a variety of individual retail establishments dotted throughout Hatfield.

Restaurants

There is no shortage of places to have a meal in Hatfield. The Blue Room, Mustang Sally's and Relish Bistro make up Hatfield's more upmarket restaurants. While McDonald's, Nando's and Burger King cater for the suburb's fast food enthusiasts.
