Putting the spotlight on Centurion and surrounds

Category Commercial Property News

Centurion is much more than a tranquil leafy suburb - it is increasingly becoming a hub of commercial activity and a popular place to do business. With its relatively close proximity to both Johannesburg and Tshwane, Centurion offers businesses the best of both worlds, with a character all of its own that is highly conducive to commercial success.

The Centurion precinct is poised to continue to grow from strength to strength, which is evidenced by the fact that ground has recently been broken in the construction of a new R300 million private tertiary education institution. Construction of this facility is expected to be completed in time for classes to begin in January 2021.

Over and above this, new ground is being broken in Centurion's commercial workspace offering, with additional buildings being added to Westend Office Park. Construction of a fourth building within this well-loved park is set to commence in March 2020. The development is proving immensely popular, due in part to the fact that there's a cycling trail on the premises, allowing people working here to strike that all-important work/life balance.

In other news with regards to developments taking place in Centurion, Centurion Mall, which has always been well loved by residents of the area, has recently undergone an upgrade valued at R1.06 billion. The development, which has taken place in three stages, sees the centre transformed into a super-regional mall which is an amalgamation of three neighbouring malls. Having originally opened its doors in 1983, Centurion Mall has embraced all things 2019, and now offers shoppers three hours of free WiFi. Over and above this, there is a fully-furnished WiFi hub close to the food court, offering students and those working remotely a comfortable and safe space in which to get some work done.

Additionally, Stevens Mokgalapa, mayor of Centurion's neighbour Tshwane, has announced that more than 6 000 permanent jobs will be created by projects currently in the pipeline. An amount of R10-billion has reportedly been secured for getting a variety of projects underway to create further economic growth in this metropolis. Mokgalapa made this remark following the conclusion of Tshwane Metro's inaugural trade and investment summit.

Those who live and work in Centurion will have been aware of the construction of a new 18 000m² building in West Street, directly opposite Centurion's Gautrain station. This facility, which opened its doors in June, is the new headquarters of South Africa's largest coal producer, Exxaro. The ultramodern facility is a showcase of Exxaro's confidence in South Africa, and has a five-star green rating.

One of the many reasons that Centurion has become a popular workplace is the plethora of amenities that offices in this precinct tend to offer. Office space here is typically AAA grade, complete with 24-hour access control and security. Easy access to the R21, N1 and N14 is part of the deal, adding the convenience factor for people coming from a wide variety of different directions. Numerous office parks here have bought into a modern way of life in which office space comes complete with furnishings, fibre internet, backup generators, shared receptionists, boardrooms, kitchens and multiple opportunities for flexible working.

An additional factor adding to the popularity of Centurion is the presence of ample residential property. With everything from three-bedroom apartments for under R1 million to sprawling luxurious homes, the area offers a multitude of opportunities for those who work in Centurion to live close to home, regardless of what price bracket they are shopping in.

Centurion is poised to become an even more formidable player in the commercial world, with an ever-increasing number of businesses in various industries choosing to make it their home. Contact OfficePlace and let's discuss what Centurion can do for your business.
