R80 million convenience shopping centre coming to Century City
Category Commercial Property News
If retail therapy is what you're after, you'll be excited to hear about a new shopping centre development coming to Century City near Milnerton in Cape Town. The mixed-use development is already famous for being the location of one of the largest shopping experiences in Africa entitled "Canal Walk". However, according to an article published off Iol’s website this new mall will cater to more boutique type outlets, restaurants and coffee shops and will be a unique addition to the Century City experience. The main attraction to this shopping showcase will be a Spar catering mainly for patrons looking for gourmet products and food.
The development will cost around R80 Million to build and is situated within close proximity to both the Curro School and The Terraces residential development. A project such as this adds a lot of value to those already working or living in or around Century City. Another aspect that makes Century City favourable within the commercial property sector is that there is an abundance of available office space. One such company that sees the benefit of utilising office parks and offices in general in the Century City precinct is OfficePlace a leading property specialist brokerage focusing mainly on commercial property.
The company has 46 listed properties in Century City and all range in price and size. Even though most of the office related buildings within Century City are quite modern this hasn’t stopped architects being inspired by an older style of building which resembles buildings from the 40's or 50's. However, if the mock-up pictures of this new shopping centre are anything to go by the new addition to Century City will utilize a more modern almost semi-futuristic feel in terms of its aesthetic value.
Another aspect that is exciting about this new development is that it's all about sustainability and the property developers are making sure that this is vitally important to its credibility and longevity. "It will be an energy-efficient building that will make use of non-potable water for irrigation and toilet flushing. Rainwater harvesting will take place for alternative uses where possible". -Joseph Booysen (2018).
According to the same article this particular construction also hopes to create jobs, however, at this early stage, they are unable to comment on how much it will contribute to the local economy as the building will only commence within the next month or so. This new shopping experience is building on Century City's already exciting list of facilities and features which include Intaka Island, a man-made estuary and bird sanctuary, a central park area, an art trail and art foundation. The area also hosts many fun-filled events for the whole family including the Century City painting night, where individuals can flex their creative muscle. Another great aspect about this gathering is no previous artistic skill is required. Another popular addition to the events calendar at Century City, is the Winter Night Market, where patrons are treated to a great time, every detail is met with panache and revelers are made sure that they are kept cozy and comfortable with heaters, great food, live music and a large assortment of artisan goods and products.
For a number of years since its inception into the highly sought-after Cape Town expanse, Century City has been hot on everyone's lips for so many great reasons. With a new shopping development, it's only rising in prominence and stature. Leading property specialists OfficePlace have a wide selection of available office space in the area to ensure that anyone's office requirements are met. Their team of highly skilled and dedicated property specialists are waiting to make sure your every requirement is met in the most conscientious and professional way possible.
